Covid Vaccinations- What is the latest advice?
If you thought the time of Covid booster shots had finished, think again. Recent research has shown that regular booster shots similar to our yearly flu shot (every 12 months) are effective in preventing the illness with some at-risk groups advised that one is needed every 6 months.
Still the best protection
Regular COVID 19 vaccinations (or boosters) are still the best protection from severe illness from Covid 19, especially for those over 65 years or people at risk.
Like all vaccinations it is a good idea to discuss your options with your doctor.
What if I have already had COVID 19?
Even if you have already had Covid 19 – you are still able to contact it again. Reinfection can occur as early as several weeks after a previous infection – so keeping up-to-date with your vaccinations is crucial to helping prevent serious illness.
Keeping track or obtaining proof of vaccination
If you forget when you were last vaccinated or need proof of vaccination you can obtain your history by accessing your immunisation history statement.
Visit Services Australia for information on how to get immunisation history statements.
